Scotiabank Presented Community Mentor Award by Big Brothers    Big Sisters of Canada for Outstanding Support of Agencies in Atlantic Canada

Scotiabank was awarded a Big Brothers Big Sisters Community Mentor Award, presented at the organization’s national convention in Toronto in July 2012. In attendance to accept the award was Islay McGlynn, Senior Vice President - Retail & Small Business Banking, Atlantic Region – Scotiabank.

Scotiabank was nominated for the award by Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies in the Atlantic region in recognition of their long-term, outstanding support of mentoring programs for children. For more than a decade, Scotiabank has been a champion for Big Brothers Big Sisters in many communities around Atlantic Canada. Support has been in the form of financial contributions and in volunteer efforts by Scotiabank employees and management.

In her acceptance speech, Islay McGlynn indicated that in a survey of Scotiabank employees, it was evident they believe in the work being done in the community by Big Brothers Big Sisters, which is why they offer so much support to the organization. Scotiabank encourages employees to get involved in the communities where they live and work, and financially supports fundraising initiatives in which they participate.
